Steema Transformers and Electricals (U) Ltd. offers a range of robust and intelligent 11kV Ring Main Unit (RMU) Switchgear Panels, designed for application in three-phase AC systems with a rated voltage of 11kV and a rated frequency of 50Hz. Our 11kV RMUs are ideal for ring network power supply and radial terminal power distribution, particularly in scenarios involving cable line sectionalizing and branch connections across Uganda.

Our intelligent-type RMUs can be equipped with SF6 gas-insulated switchgear and, where required, incorporate Feeder Terminal Units (FTUs) for advanced functionalities. These features enable remote signaling, telemetry, remote control, and fault current detection, making them highly beneficial for distribution automation systems, city power supply load centers, and cable-fed applications throughout Uganda.

Ambient Air: Not apparently polluted by corrosive and flammable gas, vapor, etc.

Characteristics of Steema's 11kV
Ring Main Unit Switchgear Panels:

The enclosure, door, and upper chamber of our 11kV RMUs undergo a thorough spray processing, ensuring a protective and uniform finish suitable for the Ugandan environment. All cabinets feature a main grounding busbar that facilitates a close connection near the cabinet. Metal components, including grounding switches and interlocking parts, are meticulously linked to the grounding busbar. Copper braid connections are employed between parts connected by screws to ensure continuity and reliable grounding.

To manage gas release and prevent internal burning arcs in gas-insulated models, a pressure relief mechanism is strategically positioned. The upper board is securely fixed with screws, allowing easy external access for busbar connections. The upper auxiliary devices chamber offers flexibility for installing terminals and other control components. Elevating the small chamber allows for efficient implementation of relay protection schemes.

Our 11kV RMUs incorporate robust interlocking mechanisms. The load break switch and grounding switch utilize a reliable interlock, while the grounding switch and door employ a coercive interlock for enhanced safety. Following a specific sequence of operations—closing the door, operating the grounding switch, and operating the load break switch or circuit breaker—automatic interlock is achieved. This sequential operation is crucial in preventing operational errors and enhancing the overall safety of the 11kV power system.
